  • Type 304/304L Stainless Steel is the modern evolution of the original “18-8” austenitic stainless steel. It is an economical and versatile corrosion resistant stainless steel suitable for a wide range of general purpose applications.

    Type 304/304L Stainless Steel is non-magnetic in the annealed condition but may become slightly magnetic as a result of cold working or welding.

    Application of 304/L Stainless Steel Sheet/Plate
    Alloy 304/304L stainless steel is used in a wide variety of home and commercial applications, including:

    • Kitchen benches, sinks, troughs, equipment, and appliances
    • Chemical containers, including for transport
    • Food processing equipment, particularly in beer brewing, milk processing and wine making
    • Heat exchangers
    • Architectural trim and molding
    • Woven or welded screens for mining, quarrying & water filtration
    • Automotive and aerospace structural use
    • Nuts, bolts, screws, and other fasteners in the marine environment
    • Construction material in large buildings
    • Dyeing industry

    • Corrosion Resistance
      These steels exhibit excellent resistance to a wide range of atmospheric, chemical, textile, petroleum and food industry exposures.
    • Oxidation Resistance
      The maximum temperature to which types 304 and 304L can be exposed continuously without appreciable scaling is about 1650ºF (899ºC). For intermittent exposure, the maximum exposure temperature is about 1500ºF (816ºC).
    • Heat Treatment
      Type 304/304L is non-hardenable by heat treatment. Annealing: Heat to 1900-2050ºF (1038-1121ºC), then cool rapidly. Thin strip sections should be water quenched to minimize exposure in the carbide precipitation region.
    • Formability
      Types 304 and 304L have very good drawability. Their combination of low yield strength and high elongation permits successful forming of complex shapes. However, these grades work harden rapidly. To relieve stresses produced in severe forming or spinning, parts should be full annealed or stress relief annealed as soon as possible after forming.
    • Weldability
      The austenitic class of stainless steels is generally considered to be weldable by the common fusion and resistance techniques. Special consideration is required to avoid weld "hot cracking" by assuring formation of ferrite in the weld deposit. Types 304 and 304L are generally considered to be the most common alloys of this stainless class. When a weld filler is needed, AWS E/ER 308, 308L or 347 are most often specified.

    #1 Finish Hot rolled, annealed and pickled.
    #2D Finish A uniform, dull silver gray mill finish that is applied to thinner stainless steel coils,the thickness of which has been reduced by cold rolling.
    #2B Finish A semi polished surface achieved by finishing with the equivalent of a 80 to 120 grit abrasive. This finish has a pronounced grit line.
    #3 Finish A semi polished surface achieved by finishing with the equivalent of a 80 to 120 grit abrasive. This finish has a pronounced grit line.
    #4 Finish Also called brushed, directional or satin finish. A is characterized by fine polishing grit lines that are uniform and directional in appearance. The final abrasive used in the process is 150 to 220 grit.
    #4 Satin Brush Finish 150 to 180 grit finish A fine directional polish, typically used in the washroom accessories industry. Most 3.5″ floppy diskette cover plates have this finish.
    #6 Finish Polished finish achieved with the equivalent of a 240 grit abrasive. Finer grit lines and higher reflectivity than a No. 4 finish.
    #7 Finish Highly reflective surface obtained with the equivalent of a 320 grit abrasive. Minimal grit lines.
    No. 8 or True #8 mirror This is the most reflective mirror finish on the market. All of the polishing, or “grit,” lines from the preliminary polishing operations are removed. The look is that of a glass mirror. Sometimes referred to as a non directional mirror finish, Super 8, No. 9, Perfect No. 10, and even No. 12 mirror.
    CMP Super #8 mirror Chemical Mechanical Polished Super #8 mirror finished sheets are guaranteed to be free from any manufacturing defects. This product represents the ultimate in mirror polished stainless steel. It is available as a single-sided or double-sided mirror polished sheet.
    Hairline finish 80 – 140 grit finish A well defined directional polish. Starting base substrate is a No. 4 finish sheet; these sheets are polished to provide a “continuous long grain” hairline look. A finish which is popular with architects for its aesthetic, it is equally popular with fabricators due to it’s ease of fabrication and finish matching properties after welding operations.

    - Normally, the MOQ for our stainless steel sheet is 200 Kg. If we have any excess inventory of stainless steel sheet, there’s no MOQ requirement. You can ask us to check when you are interested in purchasing them.
