  • Unlike 304L, Type 304H Stainless Steel has a higher carbon content making the steel more suitable for use in applications where elevated temperatures are present. It is an austenitic chromium-nickel steel alloy and the greater carbon content delivers an increased tensile and yield strength.

    The material is recommended for use in ASME pressure vessels in working service above 525 °C due to the grade's heat resistant properties.

  • ADDITIONAL PROPERTIES OF 304H STAINLESS STEEL SHEET/PLATE

    • Heat treatment
      Annealing
      Type 304L should be heated to 1900ºF minimum and water quenched or rapidly cooled by other means.
      Hardening
      Type 304H cannot be hardened by heat treatment. However, Type 304/304H can be hardened by cold working.
    • Workability
      Cold Working
      Type 304H is readily formed and fabricated through a full range of cold working operations. It can be used in heading, drawing, bending, and upsetting. Any cold working operations will increase the strength and hardness of the material, and may leave it slightly magnetic.
      Hot Working
      Type 304H can be forged in the 1700-2200°F range. For maximum corrosion resistance, forgings should be annealed at 1900°F minimum and water quenched or rapidly cooled by other means after hot working operations.
    • Welding
      Type 304H is readily welded by a full range of conventional welding procedures (except oxyacetylene). AWS E308H/ER308H filler metals should be used with Type 304H steel. After welding Type 304H it may be necessary to fully anneal to restore the corrosion resistance lost by sensitization to intergranular corrosion when chromium carbides were precipitated in the grain boundaries in the weld
      heat-affected zone.
    • Machinability
      Type 304H is a tough austenitic stainless steel subject to work hardening during deformation and, unless modified for improved machining response, is resistant to chip breaking. The best machining results are achieved with slower speeds, heavier feeds, excellent lubrication, sharp tooling, and powerful, rigid equipment.
    • Corrosion Resistance
      Resistance to corrosion in oxidizing environments is a result from the 18 to 19% chromium that the 304 alloys contain Resistance to moderately aggressive organic acids is a result from the 9 to 11% nickel that the 304 alloys contain
      At times, Alloy 304L may show a lower corrosion rate than the higher carbon Alloy 304; otherwise, the 304, 304L, and 304H alloys may be considered to perform uniformly in most corrosive environments.

    #1 Finish Hot rolled, annealed and pickled.
    #2D Finish A uniform, dull silver gray mill finish that is applied to thinner stainless steel coils,the thickness of which has been reduced by cold rolling.
    #2B Finish A semi polished surface achieved by finishing with the equivalent of a 80 to 120 grit abrasive. This finish has a pronounced grit line.
    #3 Finish A semi polished surface achieved by finishing with the equivalent of a 80 to 120 grit abrasive. This finish has a pronounced grit line.
    #4 Finish Also called brushed, directional or satin finish. A is characterized by fine polishing grit lines that are uniform and directional in appearance. The final abrasive used in the process is 150 to 220 grit.
    #4 Satin Brush Finish 150 to 180 grit finish A fine directional polish, typically used in the washroom accessories industry. Most 3.5″ floppy diskette cover plates have this finish.
    #6 Finish Polished finish achieved with the equivalent of a 240 grit abrasive. Finer grit lines and higher reflectivity than a No. 4 finish.
    #7 Finish Highly reflective surface obtained with the equivalent of a 320 grit abrasive. Minimal grit lines.
    No. 8 or True #8 mirror This is the most reflective mirror finish on the market. All of the polishing, or “grit,” lines from the preliminary polishing operations are removed. The look is that of a glass mirror. Sometimes referred to as a non directional mirror finish, Super 8, No. 9, Perfect No. 10, and even No. 12 mirror.
    CMP Super #8 mirror Chemical Mechanical Polished Super #8 mirror finished sheets are guaranteed to be free from any manufacturing defects. This product represents the ultimate in mirror polished stainless steel. It is available as a single-sided or double-sided mirror polished sheet.
    Hairline finish 80 – 140 grit finish A well defined directional polish. Starting base substrate is a No. 4 finish sheet; these sheets are polished to provide a “continuous long grain” hairline look. A finish which is popular with architects for its aesthetic, it is equally popular with fabricators due to it’s ease of fabrication and finish matching properties after welding operations.

    - Normally, the MOQ for our stainless steel sheet is 200 Kg. If we have any excess inventory of stainless steel sheet, there’s no MOQ requirement. You can ask us to check when you are interested in purchasing them.
