    A286 AISI 660M 1.4943 is precipitation hardening material with high strength, corrosion resistance. It is made to be used in temperatures up to 1300°F (704°C). It has great tensile strength, good creep strength and good resistance.
    A286 is ductile, non magnetic, iron based alloy. It can get the best strength level by solution heat teating and age hardending. As it has higher strength, bigger power is needed when forming. Before, machining, A286 is best to have solution treatment first.
    A286 alloy is heat and corrosion resistant austenitic steel, and it can be hardened to a high strength level. The alloy is also used for in low temperature which need non-magnetic high strength at different high temperatures. This alloy is used for corrosion application in aqueous solution. Type A286 is normally produced by AOD refining furnace and vacuum induction metling.

    A286 is one of the most widely used high temperature alloys. It keeps high strength, and excellent fabrication characteristics and widely used in aircraft component, industrial gas turbines.
    Machinability:

    A-286 will machine easier than other high temperature metals, such as 718. Using carbide inserts will help. Readily machined by standard methods. Similar in behavior to the machining of the austenitic stainless steel. Cemented carbide tools are best for high cutting rates as in turning operations. Turning: Surface speed of 300-325 fpm using carbide tooling at feed rate of 0.008 inches per revolution. Use water base coolant or lubricant. Drilling: High speed steel drills with a positive rake work well. Feed rates are 0.001" to 0.006" per revolution, with the smaller feed rate the smaller the hole diameter being drilled. Surface speed range 25-35 feet per minute. Milling: Rigid machines and fixtures are essential for a good milled finish. Cutting speeds of 30-40 surface feet per minute with a feed rate of 0.003" to 0.005" per mill cutter tooth should be used. Grinding behavior is very similar to that of steel. Wet grinding is best using aluminum oxide grinding wheels.

    Applications:

    Used for reasonably low cost when moderate strength and oxidation resistance are required at temperatures greater than suitable for stainless steels. This alloy finds application in gas turbine forgings. It is suited for use up to a temperature of about 1300 F in corrosive environment (such as gas turbines) and to 1500 F for continuous service in oxidizing environments.

    Welding:

    As with all nickel containing alloy cleanliness of the area to be welded is of paramount importance. Welding procedures and processes are the same as used for stainless steel. Preheating or post welding heat treatment is not required. Welds should always have a raised (convex) weld bead and matching filler metal should be used. The alloy should be in the solution annealed condition for optimum welding results. It is susceptible to hot cracking and that tendency is aggravated in the aged condition.

    Heat Treatment:

    The alloy is solution annealed at 1800 F and oil quenched, followed by holding at 1325 F for 16 hours and air cool. This treatment develops high strength for the alloy.

    Hardening:

    As with austenitic stainless steel hardening of this alloy is accomplished by cold working. However the alloy, as is common with many of the iron-nickel alloys containing titanium, may be age hardened. Refer to "Aging" listing.

    #1 Finish Hot rolled, annealed and pickled.
    #2D Finish A uniform, dull silver gray mill finish that is applied to thinner stainless steel coils,the thickness of which has been reduced by cold rolling.
    #2B Finish A semi polished surface achieved by finishing with the equivalent of a 80 to 120 grit abrasive. This finish has a pronounced grit line.
    #3 Finish A semi polished surface achieved by finishing with the equivalent of a 80 to 120 grit abrasive. This finish has a pronounced grit line.
    #4 Finish Also called brushed, directional or satin finish. A is characterized by fine polishing grit lines that are uniform and directional in appearance. The final abrasive used in the process is 150 to 220 grit.
    #4 Satin Brush Finish 150 to 180 grit finish A fine directional polish, typically used in the washroom accessories industry. Most 3.5″ floppy diskette cover plates have this finish.
    #6 Finish Polished finish achieved with the equivalent of a 240 grit abrasive. Finer grit lines and higher reflectivity than a No. 4 finish.
    #7 Finish Highly reflective surface obtained with the equivalent of a 320 grit abrasive. Minimal grit lines.
    No. 8 or True #8 mirror This is the most reflective mirror finish on the market. All of the polishing, or “grit,” lines from the preliminary polishing operations are removed. The look is that of a glass mirror. Sometimes referred to as a non directional mirror finish, Super 8, No. 9, Perfect No. 10, and even No. 12 mirror.
    CMP Super #8 mirror Chemical Mechanical Polished Super #8 mirror finished sheets are guaranteed to be free from any manufacturing defects. This product represents the ultimate in mirror polished stainless steel. It is available as a single-sided or double-sided mirror polished sheet.
    Hairline finish 80 – 140 grit finish A well defined directional polish. Starting base substrate is a No. 4 finish sheet; these sheets are polished to provide a “continuous long grain” hairline look. A finish which is popular with architects for its aesthetic, it is equally popular with fabricators due to it’s ease of fabrication and finish matching properties after welding operations.

    - Normally, the MOQ for our stainless steel sheet is 200 Kg. If we have any excess inventory of stainless steel sheet, there’s no MOQ requirement. You can ask us to check when you are interested in purchasing them.
